What is our swimwear made out of?
Our swimwear is made from 78% recycled Nylon using ECONYL® and 22% Lycra.
What is ECONYL®?
ECONYL® fabric is created through the regeneration of nylon 6 obtained from discarded nylon products such as plastics, old carpets, fishing nets and industrial waste. Despite being recycled, ECONYL has properties that are similar to those of newly produced nylon. However, what sets ECONYL apart from its original form is its remarkable ability to be recycled, recreated, and reshaped repeatedly. ECONYL® regenerated nylon and it is UV and chlorine resistant. ECONYL® is a durable fabrication that guarantees comfort and longevity.
Why do we use ECONYL®?
ECONYL® fabric is a versatile and sustainable material that can be infinitely recycled, recreated and remoulded. It offers remarkable environmental benefits by saving 70,000 barrels of crude oil and avoiding 65,100 tonnes of CO2 eq. emissions for every 10,000 tonnes of raw material. Compared with conventional oil-based nylon, it reduces the global warming impact of nylon by up to 90 percent. Despite being recycled, ECONYL® retains its high-quality characteristics and is as strong, durable, and flexible as its raw material. ECONYL® is easy to wash and care for, and its production process reduces water, energy usage and carbon emissions compared to conventional nylon production from oil. The synthetic nylon 6 fibers used in ECONYL are manufactured in facilities certified with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 50001, and SA 8000 standards.
Our sustainability mission:
At ARCHDEACON, we are dedicated to sustainable practices and reducing our impact on the environment. We are proud to utilise eco-friendly materials that benefit both the wearer and the planet. Our top priority is to provide you with high-quality garments that not only last for multiple seasons but also leave a smaller carbon footprint.
Our swimwear is made from recycled materials to repurpose plastic waste and significantly reduce the impact of new materials on the environment. We are committed to prioritising recyclable materials, from the fabric, manufacturing, to the recycled packaging.
While we do our absolute best to ensure sustainability, we acknowledge that all fabrics have the potential to release particles into the water system when washed, and therefore cannot guarantee 100% sustainability.
